If you're not familiar with 1997's F1 Manager Professional, it's not really a surprise: but you may have been missing out on the best F1 management game ever made (from an admittedly short list). I first discovered it over 10 years ago in a bargain bin, and immediately set about using the built-in editor to replace the fake teams and drivers with the portraits and names of their real life counterparts. In 2000, it seemed more logical to simulate the 1997 season it was designed for than undertake any kind of half-arsed 'modernisation'. Never mind the twin obstacles of the editor's limitations and sheer implausibility of creating a whole new set of data for a new generation of drivers.
With renewed vigor in anticipation of the 2010 season (I'm a bit late), and mixed emotions over the latest claims from the undead GPRM (née F1CM) project - a study in mismanagement as grand in spirit, if not in scale, as USF1's attempt to exist in any meaningful way - I finally determined to not only finish a conversion of F1MP to real teams and drivers, but to do so for the upcoming season, which conveniently now had exactly 12 teams (and as I hoped, Stefan were unable to subvert the natural order of things at the 11th hour).
And so here it is. I missed the start of the season by a week, but I would not have considered the mod "playable" if it had not the full compliment of real drivers, real engineers and real teams, all with unique data.
